The primary mission of the Baby Expo is to provide educational resources to expectant and new parents. In addition to stage seminars we will have “education zones”.


Education Zones



Daddy Zone
Sponsored in part by “Families Matter- Dynamic Dads Workshops” – this area is all about Dad! Dads will be able to learn about becoming a father from a “Dad’s” perspective. There will be a “daddy obstacle course” with dad’s wearing the “pregnancy belly” – door prizes and lots of other fun and information.

Breast Is Best Zone
Sponsored by the Shelby County Breastfeeding Coalition visitors to this area can learn all about Breastfeeding. Topics covered will include advantages of breastfeeding, how to get off to a good start and where to get local support and help. Lactation consultants will be on hand to meet one on one with moms and answer questions. This area will also feature other breastfeeding resources as well as products and accessories. There will be three “mini seminars” in this area throughout the day.

“Breastfeeding 101” will be presented in this area at 11am, 12pm and 1pm with question and answer sessions to follow.

Pediatric Zone
This zone will be staffed by area pediatricians from 11am – 2pm. Parents can meet doctors and get information on the following topics: Immunizations, What to Expect Baby’s First Year, How to Pick a Pediatrician and pick up a copy of the DVD “ Preparing & Caring for Your Baby”.

Infant Safety Zone
This zone will be staffed by area experts providing information on home, car and general baby safety information. Topics will include: preparing your home, and getting ready for baby and how to keep them safe as well as ongoing car seat safety demo’s. Staff from this area will also present an “Infant Safety Demonstration on the main stage area at 1pm.

Siblings/ Kids Zone
This zone sponsored in part by Kindermusik and Usborne Books will be an area for big brothers and sisters to come have some fun, play a few games and win some prizes. Information on “Introducing a New Family Member” will be available in this area so parents can help prepare the whole family for the new addition.


Professionals will be available in these areas to meet and talk with parents or answer any questions they might have.
