Seminars
The primary mission of the Mid-South Baby Expo is to provide educational resources to expectant and new parents so they can make wiser and healthier choices for themselves and their babies.
In addition to the "Stage Seminars," parents will be able to visit the following areas and get helpful information on the following topics:
Daddy ZoneSponsored by Cole’s Home Solutions and Families Matter/ Dynamic Dads. Lots of fun, games & activities as well as great information for new and expectant dads. Dads can put on a pregnancy belly and run the Daddy Relay-Obstacle course and be eligible for great prizes while experiencing the obstacles that all pregnant mommies face! Coles Home Solutions will have fun, games, tips and demos for getting not only baby’s room but the whole house ready for the newest addition. Activities will include “The Plunger Game-for dads”, Daddy and Kid projects, and demos on products that will include “eco friendly” paints, lighting displays, safety items and specialty tool kids for moms and kids (so they stay out of dads!).
Infant Safety Zone
Sponsored by the Mid-South Safe Kids Coalition and area hospitals, this area will include ongoing demonstrations on home and car safety. Parents will learn how to make their environments safer for babies and toddlers through examples of appropriate home and yard safety. There will also be demonstrations on proper car seat installation along with plenty of resources for additional help, if needed.
Got Milk? "Milk the Moment" TourThe 2010 Milk Moustache Mobile “Milk the Moment Tour” will be cruising through Memphis to celebrate those special moments that families share around the dinner table and show moms that serving milk at dinnertime is an easy, and affordable way to help make sure their families get the nutrition they need.
Local events feature a variety of fun and educational activities for the entire family including free milk, Milk Moustache photos, a football toss activity that encourages families to eat right and be active 60 minutes a day and the opportunity to enter the “Milk the Moment” contest for a chance to win a family dinner experience with chef Tyler Florence.
The Milk Moustache Mobile Tour will be visiting the Memphis Zoo on March 26th from 11am – 2pm and the Mid-South Baby Expo on March 27th from 10am – 4pm.
"Breast is Best" ZoneSponsored by the Shelby County Breastfeeding Coalition. Area pediatricians and lactation consultants will be on hand with advice and answers to all your breastfeeding questions. They will be presenting two “mini-seminars” at 11:30am and 1:30 pm – “Breastfeeding A-Z.” The seminars will be presented by Dr. Julie Ware - pediatrician and Dr. Allison Stiles – med-peds physician. Lactation consultants will be available in this area throughout the day with information on Breastfeeding and will be available to address any issues or concerns for new parents. Parents visiting this area will be eligible to register for special door prizes.
Ask the Pediatrician"A baby changes everything!" Visit this area from 11 am- 3pm for great information on infant care and baby’s first year. Nurses and pediatricians will be staffing this area and will be available to answer all your new parent questions. Parents who visit this area will receive a free gift and be eligible for special door prizes.
Kids ZoneSponsored by Kindermusik and Usborne Books, this area will feature fun and games for “Big Brothers & Sisters”. Parents can take a break and kids can participate in the “Book Walk” that will be offered several times throughout the day to win prizes. Parents can also pick up information on making the transition easier for new brothers and sisters when the new baby arrives!
